An easy, fun, educational, and learning activities of dollars to build word knowledge of students (and curiosity for words) is to start talking about "favorite words." Â Here are some easy steps to apply:

  1. Currently, the answer of question "What is your favorite word?"
  2. Once you have answered think the reason is Favorite. IF your memory when you've learned? Is this the sound of this word? Is this how it feels when you say the word? A Or another thing that makes this a favorite word. asked to turn thousands of teachers on this issue, I found models in what they say – and the words that appear often. will not list here because I want * that * come with your favorite word and not influenced by everything that could write.Â
  3. Tomorrow, go to your class and tell the students what their favorite word – and tell Why. You will be fascinated by everything (from their teachers is fascinating, especially for small children).
  4. Then ask your students what are their is.a Favorite Word Some children have an answer immediately. Others will choose your word. Others have no idea, but I can assure you that you do many times and each time they know they can respond. Now … Here's what happens: just by the question, students begin to pay attention to words and begin to consider whether a word is Favorite. It's amazing what happens (which is related to a concept called "Reticular activation, which will not dwell here, but you could Google and learn whether a term unknown to you). Â
  5. Tomorrow, ask your students if they have a new favorite word of those who would like to share … and I promise you that you get new answers.
  6. Anime students to ask their parents or other adults what his favorite word is – and return to the classroom to share.
  7. Create favorite words "board or boards in your area I classroom. Several workshops for schools and common vocabulary development concept TOA has taken a new level (I love the teachers!) a school has created a wide corridor devoted to 'favorite words. "They had a photos of students and next to the image of the child, who is the favorite child. was so popular that teachers have trouble moving the children around this room and he wanted to read words. Other Favorites In another school, teachers have created cartoons themselves, who are versatile in room. next to each staff member of the cartoon, his favorite word was listed. was great!  What model for students! Another school has created a "wall of parents, where parents can add their favorite words when they came to night school or parents events. Awesome!
