I have the impression of "The Well", by D. Ridgeway Knight. Seems to be the only one. Are there any other impressions of it?
It lithographs by Arthur Kaplan Co. No other copy listed on the site. Have others?
Rehs Galleries, Inc. produces a catalog of the artist American Daniel Ridgway Knight (1839 to 1924). In the preparation of the catalog of the gallery is to search for sources, written documents, photographs and any other relevant information regarding the art of Knight. Ridgway Knight was born in Pennsylvania in 1839. He attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1858 – 1861 and then traveled to Paris and studied at the Atelier Gleyre and Cabanel at the Ecole des Beaux Arts from 1861 to 1863. Knight returned to America to join the Army, he married Rebecca Webster and in 1871 he and his wife returned to France where they remained for the rest of their lives. In 1873, Knight moved to Poissy – a rural area on the outskirts of Paris. There he found the subject that occupies the rest of his life – the employee of the French countryside. A writer in the May1876 issue of art magazine, wrote about the painting entitled The Knight laundry room French: "… The figures are drawn with great spirit and its definition much grace as indicated.
