There are many types of fractals.
The first known fractal has not yet discovered a very popular nowadays. Here we find the famous Mandelbrot. The algorithm is relatively simple to use, were sold in 1985 by Scientific American. Many of the first wine of all Mandelbrot fractal images (or its inverse Julia) set including beautiful spiral forms.
However, there are many other types of fractals. A fractal particularly impressive is the "3D strange attractor" (sometimes called "Fractal Flame") that maps the orbits of points on certain points of contact which produces images … fractals that can see something like smoke, flames, the reflection of light patterns, including flowers and feathers.
Another type of fractal IFS can generate beautiful fractal pattern of dots gradually fill the attractor "(the fractal attractor is the way complete the fractal set if it is for an infinite time). The IFS fractal is also the basis of the JPEG image compression format known.
All fractal types above can be easily generated with free software, and incredibly fascinating to discover for yourself.
A lot of abstract art, in particular, "organic abstract" art, is fractal in nature. However, the marks made by the watercolor on paper or oil on canvas, are fractal in nature, what brands are used to represent.
Nature itself is mainly fractals … the orbits of the plants, the shapes of galaxies, sunspots, plants and shapes of trees, the sound of a waterfall, ocean waves, the wind noise, the shapes of shells, and most of the rest of nature, all built with different types of fractals.
