(Editor's note: These films made for television are among the 41 novels originally transmitted adequate participation PBS, obsessive little Belgian inspector Hercule Poirot. The character in Poirot (played to perfection by David Suchet) was created by the famous author British Agatha Christie, who wrote his first Poirot novel in 1920 at age 30 and his last Poirot novel in 1975 after 55 years and one year before his death in 1976.)
The Double Clue – 4 stars (excellent)
The dramatization of "double track" by Anthony Horowitz 1991strays something in the original novel written by Agatha Christie in 1923, but remains one of the best episodes ever Hercule Poirot.
Poirot (David Suchet) is called to investigate the theft of an irreplaceable piece of jewelry that took place during a social gathering at the home of wealthy collector Marcus Hardman (David Lyon).
Only four people are possible suspects, a millionaire who could buy the missing piece in a heartbeat, a woman aged way society is both difficult, a young officer Hardman effeminate, and a refugee Russian countess Vera Rossakoff (Kika Markham).
Assistant Poirot, Captain Arthur Hastings (Great Fraser), and personal secretary Miss Lemon (Pauline Moran), the ridiculous, more or less investigation of the case, while being beaten Poirot and spends all his time Rossakoff Countess. Both Hastings and Miss Lemon are visibly upset that the precise, methodical, rational and meticulous Belgian detective is so irrelevant.
Even more disturbing is the Chief Inspector Japp (Philip Jackson) whose work is on the line because there have been three recent thefts of precious jewels and the thief is still at large. Japp is given only a couple of days to settle the case, see his life fall away as Poirot idles away his time with the Countess.
Miss Lemon is disabled. She was in love with Hercule Poirot always or even realizes. Poirot is the Countess to be the greatest woman ever known, a brilliant thief game of his brilliant mind. Poirot Implus may experience and not not act accordingly?
See Poirot finds and returns the stolen goods only to have the thief in the night flight.
The mystery of the chest Spanish – 4 stars (excellent)
What are the chances you take a husband to confirm his suspicion that his wife is unfaithful? Hecules Poirot, Captain of psychology and human behavior is almost dead in his attempt to solve the murder of her husband suspiciously. The emphasis of the woman and her lover is obviously suspect arrested for the crime.
But Poirot can not find the answer two key questions: Why kill her husband, put him in the chest, Spanish and leave the body, while a party with several guests in the same room, knowing that the body can easily be discovered? And if he did not, by whom and why?
Poirot finds the answers to these questions much more difficult to successfully conceal an illicit affair in progress. Pushing your gray matter a little more difficult, Poirot discovers the implementation of a coward a person without conscience or remorse.
The tragedy Marsdon Manor – 3 stars (Good)
When a beautiful young artist Susan Maltravers (Geraldine Alexander), she marries a wealthy owner of an older home-Jonathan Maltravers (Ian McCulloch), may have an ulterior motive, besides love? What happens if a developing love triangle? And if there is death of a young woman in years Manor the same reason again to chase a young woman taking her out of his mind?
These issues and many others are put to rest when Hercule Poirot realizes more Maltravers did not fall because of a recent operation, but rather a cold-blooded execution. Poirot, however, not enough evidence to convict the murderer.
Because it is long on theory and short on evidence Poirot invents a truly terrifying scene in which the return from death to the victim to face his executioner.
