Picasso Poster

Two questions: 1.) What is the translation of the title of the artwork of Picasso: The Face of Peace
2.) Does anyone know link to art historical information specific to this particular piece of art: the timing, interpretation, etc (all that I can find web sites are selling posters of the article)
The face of peace. There is a general article on the election of the Picasso dove as a symbol of peace see http://www.carolsutton.net/5_quiz/Picasso_Gilot_his_birds.html In 1950 (December). Picasso painted a series of drawings on the face of the peace for the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of the French Communist Party. Exhibited at "Picasso Van Fantin tot" in the Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Http: / / www.museupicasso.bcn.es/guerraipau/eng/crono_eng/1950.htm Here are two examples http://homepage.mac.com/dmhart/WarArt/ Picasso / Peace / FaceOfPeace.JPG and http://en.easyart.com/art-prints/Pablo-Picasso/The-Face-of-Peace -50354.html
A visit to Cooperstown
My heart soared. We were going to make another trip to the Hall of Fame. One of my favorite places on earth.
As the first trip to upstate New York. I wanted to see people like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Honus Wagner, Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb and Yogi Berra. again.
What I saw that day has stayed with me in the depths of my being, to this day. More on that later.
When we entered in the building in spring 1999, I was greeted by giant-size replicas of the two big hitters Ted Williams and Babe Ruth. Loved see the child. "My friend Babe Ruth. Good morning. Hey Ted, you're great. "I remember saying.
I found it very interesting that I most people (if you got less than seven feet five inches) would look to see these two figures carved.
My wife and I walked through the museum in search of artifacts. We liked the old gloves, cleats, balls, bats and uniforms that were locked in cubes of glass. These items brought me back to a time and place before television, radar guns and luxury boxes. I was very homesickness.
Soon he entered the wing that housed Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and artifacts. Home Run This wing was abundant with Sosa and McGwire memorabilia. It was like being in a fantastic park home run baseball. There were large posters of men. There were posters of the list of each circuit .. When the rhythm and what the pitcher gave up that home run in particular. There were bats and balls for games played on boards Amazing. No two men in Major League hit as many circuits in one year. On leaving the wing could not help but be overwhelmed by the exploits of these two men slugging enormous. A Cub and a cardinal.
We continue to walk in the corridor until we reached a narrow wing that I remembered my previous visit. I looked on the left side of the aisle and I saw a group of images. Hanging to son, these colorful paintings were displayed at my eye level. Perfect for me. I have seen these photos. I was forced. to walk in this corridor. First image to enter the area was Babe Ruth. His bat on his shoulder. His face had been made with age. He seemed a little older, a little heavy and a bit tired little overweight. While watching the image was very sad. I could see that his career was almost over.
Next is the painting of Lou Gehrig. A smile of Lou Gehrig. I was very happy to be in the presence of one of my all time heroes. Even if it was just an image. Then it was one of Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams was in the dugout steps, their bodies were tipped into another. I enjoyed the joy that seemed to just be there. Ready to play another game.
There were other tables one Jackie Robinson, Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner, another of which I loved.
Looking towards the end of the line of paints that I saw a glass box with which like a baseball glove so deep. It seems very strange that all the players who were depicted in the paintings were a time where dark brown gloves were used. . I was confused. These gloves do not appear here. I had to see who was the glove.
I could not believe my eyes. It was not a glove. It was a sculpture of a glove. Perfect in size. So precise detailed gray seals were full length and width of color. Ideally the depth of this piece was a sculptor had taken me by surprise. I thought time invested in creating this piece. About how this person should have shot the heart of baseball took the time to shape a team party. I saw him sitting in his room playing with clay work to make this real piece.
I called my wife to come see this amazing piece. Both have been transferred. I even cried.
They gave me a vision of one of the greatest works of art he had never seen. I was in major museums and saw the painting of Van Gogh, Picasso and Dahli .. I saw Rodin's The Thinker. I've never been moved as if I was the glove.
Every time I think Hall of Fame, my mind jumps to the box glove. I do not know if this piece is here. It was priced at $ 8500 while I could not have been moved.
But if you have the chance to see the glove I suggest you take a look.
Please forward this information to anyone who would be interesting Read about the Baseball Hall of Fame.
